British Larch
WOOLFOX IN THE MAKING…

Last week we visited Brooks Bros to hand select the next batch of larch for Woolfox. It was an awe-inspiring visit watching the impressive team and huge machinery at work.
One of the most important features when designing the residencies at Woolfox, was to create striking homes that were at one with the landscape and seemingly part of it. We feel that this has been achieved through the beautiful glazing which floods each property with light inside whilst reflecting the surrounding landscape outside. The glazing is set off beautifully by the British larch which is sawn 6 miles away by family run timber mill Brooks Brothers.
Each length of larch is individually sawn at Brooks Brothers dedicated home grown timbers division in Sewstern (near Grantham).
For Woolfox, Brooks have used only the buttress end of the Larch log. The benefit of this is fewer, smaller less developed knots which gives a clearer and cleaner look to the timber. Considered the best and certainly the most expensive grades of timber are always selected from the Buttress end of the log.
When installed the larch is quickly looses its vibrancy and further settles into its surrounds by naturally silvering.

British Larch is fantastic sustainable material and acts to both keep our homes dry and warm.
